“Surely she doesn’t think she could make it as a model? She’s far too fat!” Those words, from a complete stranger, echo in Ellie’s ears from then on.
So she’s a little on the chubby side, no big deal…right? Wrong. All she thinks about is weight. Envying her two stick-thin friends, Ellie strives for the perfect body by starving herself and living off exercise. In the process for the perfect body, Ellie loses herself along the way. She needs to figure out what’s more important, a skinny figure, or her happiness.
Girls Under Pressure, by Jacqueline Wilson, is an excellent novel to add to its series. It’s fictionally written, but jam packed with real life, teen issues on weight. It shows readers what weight loss, the wrong way, can do to you and those around you.
Wilson writes with a sense of knowledge and passion. Once I started reading, I felt like I was part of Elli’s life. I could almost feel the desire she felt as she starved her self to her desire for the perfect body. I could easily picture her families’ faces that symbolized their sadden broken hearts for the sorrow of their poor Ellie.
This story is full of determination, desire, pain, and love. It’s a well written, two-thumb up book. When looking for pizzazz, you can count on a novel by Jacqueline Wilson. A recommendation to any teen girl with any normal problems.

Definatly a great read. If you've been through this cycle [or are going through it,] it really helps to look into the eyes of the ones that love you, even if it feels like noone does. Still a great book, even if you don't suffer. Jacgueline Wilson is a wonderful writer. I highly recommend this one.
