In The Truth About Forever, Macy McQueen is basically stuck in a life she doesn’t want. After her father died, her and her mom’s lives completely changed. They do almost the same things everyday, and nothing in their lives change much at all. With her father dead, and her sister living on her own, Macy and her mom concentrate on being perfect and always keeping to a schedule. Almost like if they can hold on to something, and concentrate on something that won’t disappear, they can elude the fact that they are devastated, because showing it would bring them farther away from their goal of perfection. Macy used to be fun and outgoing, and now she spends all her time studying at home, or with her “perfect” boyfriend. But Macy wants to change, she no longer wants to pretend to be fine all the time, she wants to actually move on, have a new start. In order to do that, she’ll have to break away from everything she’s used to, and start over on her own.
I thought this was a great book. It described how a girl had to move on in order to change her life to the way she wanted it. It was a realistic fiction and romance story. I think a lot of people could relate to this story because it has many different parts to it: loss, friendship, romance, family etc.
